Multi-award winner and Historian guru Phathisa Nyathi will be honoured by British Zimbabwe Society (BZS) in a lifetime achievement Award this year for his significant role in arts and culture.
Receiving a legendary award from NAMA last month, Nyathi’s works were still at go of being glorified but.
Phathisa Nyathi will the first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by BZS this year after the Award of Young Researcher’s Prize, whose aim is at recognising and encouraging young Zimbabwean scholars.
The president of BZS Mr Knox Mutiwa on his letter stated that, they had decided to give the Historian and cultural legend the award for his mighty works in art industry and culture.
“This year we are not offering a YRP, instead we are offering an inaugural BZS Lifetime Achievement Award. With the aim of LAA, it is to recognise consistent and longstanding excellence in a specific field. This year The LAA will base on arts and culture.
On behalf of the BZS, iam delighted to inform you that we would like to present the inaugural British Zimbabwe Society 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award to you. We recognise your outstanding contribution to Zimbabwean arts, culture, scholarship, education and community work during a career lifetime” he said.
With the wish to honour the Historian guru, Mr Mutiwa said they are still bound by Covid 19 regulations that will hinder to throw a virtual ceremony of honouring Nyathi.
“The notification regarding the 2021 LAA recipient will be made in BZS info, and we will make a brief announcement during this year’s BZS Research day. As there will be a BZS presantation event later this year and probably online, given the continuing uncertainty of covid 19 and travel restrictions etc” added Mutiwa.
