BULAWAYO based artist Day Tawanda Ncube aka DT BiO Mudimba (The African Man) took number one on two different chat shows on Saturday 13 March 2021.
For the first time, DT BiO Mudimba became number one since his first production in 2016 at Afro Records studios.” When I took number one I shed tears of joy and gave praise to the Almighty God and to my fans because I never imagined that they will support me, and my band by elevating us to such greater heights”, said Mudimba in an interview.
DT BiO Mudimba is a Tonga sungura artist who was inspired by his grandfather Simonga Muzamba who played Tonga mbira (Tunkobela) as he grew up. Also, great musicians like Nicolas Zacharia, Alick Macheso, Kwejani band, Leonard Dembo among other sungura artists are his role model.
Mudimba gets votes through whatsApp and text on numbers that are provided on chat show programs. Mudimba is happy that his fans have changed him from being nobody to become somebody almost nationwide. “On behalf of the band, I would like to thank our supporters for an overwhelming support which they gave us, we love them and may God bless them”, he said.
